Our campervan workshop is constantly evolving to meet the increasing demand for our campervans, extending the range of models and continuing to develop new technologies.
Applying LEAN production principles, the workshop is reducing production times while raising the quality of the vehicles and their conversions.
Having recently implemented a new style of production line to accommodate the upsurge in volume, we are currently moving to a data-led approach to make further efficiencies, increase productivity and shorten the waiting times between deposit and delivery.
Pioneering the technology for the world’s first hybrid and tribrid campervan, our original Eco Camper, the Eco Pioneer I, proved to be a game-changer for our production team. Seeing the success of The Eco Campers range – that currently equates to 80% of our sales and set to grow – our team is motivated by craftsmanship and innovation and is really proud of what has been achieved at the CampervanCo.
The wealth of experience right across the team that has also led to the development and growth of our new arm, Campers Care, which covers mechanical, interiors and appliance servicing and repairs.
We have a team of at least 12 staff working in the production line. The approach is to constantly improve and every idea is listened to and explored. We continually review how the team works to see what simple changes can be made to save on time and cost, without compromising on quality.
As part of our continuous professional development (CPD), we have taken part in a series of development days with the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS). This has highlighted three significant factors about the outstanding CampervanCo team: it is highly adaptable, it is highly skilled, and its ability to use humour to get through challenging situations is exceptional!
The CampervanCo operates under the ethos of LEAN thinking, which is based on five manufacturing principles of value, value streams, flow, pull and perfection. Value: Our product and services meet the customers’ needs. Value stream: This is the product’s full life cycle; any materials or processes that do not add value are removed. Flow: A production process without delays or interruption, resulting in quicker delivery times for customers. Pull: Nothing is made until the customer orders it, which creates short design-to-delivery cycle times. Perfection: We measure, analyse and constantly review to reduce waste, time and costs so that we produce the best possible campervans.
